A school bus crash today has left one student dead and at least three others injured, according to Houston officials.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. and the bus appeared to have gone
through the guardrail on the freeway and flipped over on the road below.
Law enforcement officials shut down a portion of the freeway pending an
investigation, according to ABC station KTRK-TV in Houston.
Officials said the student who died was a female and that a total of
four students were aboard the bus at the time of the accident. The
students were headed to Furr High School.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and the loss of one of our
students,” Houston School District Superintendent Terry Grier said in a
statement. “I ask all of the HISD community to join me in praying for
all of those involved.”
The condition of those injured was not immediately released.
