A band of gunmen have kidnapped the traditional ruler of Apaa-Bunu
community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Oba
Adebisi Obademi.
Our correspondent gathered on Thursday that the monarch was kidnapped
at about 7.30am on Wednesday by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
He was said to be on his way to Odo–Ape, a suburb of his domain
when the kidnappers abducted him and drove him away to an unknown
destination on a motorcycle.
No ransom had so far been demanded by the kidnappers as of the time of filing the story.
Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, Mr.
Duro Meseko, while condemning the abduction of the traditional ruler,
decried the increasing spate of kidnappings in the area.
He urged law enforcement agencies to be more proactive in the discharge of their constitutional and official duties.
Meseko also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly address kidnappings in the country.
A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not
authorised to speak on the matter, confirmed the abduction of the
monarch.
He added that the police commissioner urged residents of the to
report suspicious movements and people of unwholesome characters in the
area to the police.
